Several Groups in Nigeria have been coming down hard on some residents and indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), over what they termed as divisive comments and hostile attitude towards the person and administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.
These circumstances arose following the controversial visit by some FCT indigenes and residents to the State House during the last Sallah Day, where they said they were referred to as necessary evil.
Reacting to these developments, the Muhammadu Buhari Osinbanjo Dynamic Support Group in a statement on Sunday in Abuja, said caution must be applied by some residents and indigenes of the Federal Capital Territory so as not to create unnecessary conflicts with the Federal Government over comments attributed to them.
He said it was important to clarify that Abuja and the FCT does not belongs to anyone or any group but the Federal Government of Nigeria, pointing out the so called residents and indigenes should be advised to desist from making inflammatory statements capable of throwing the country into unnecessary crisis.
Warning on the dangers of scuttling the country’s hard-earned democracy, Ibrahim said MBO Dynamic Support Group denounces the actions and unfiltered statements coming out from some Nigerians particularly the leaders in the territory.
According to the MBO National Coordinator, some of these unguarded and frivolous statements by some of the leaders within the FCT are capable of setting the country on fire and destroying the democracy most Nigerians paid with their blood to achieve.
“It is this hard earned democracy that we are enjoying today that some of us are toying with. We should manage wisely; whatever situation or circumstances we may be into now; adding leaders and residents of the FCT in particular and the nation at large should display every sense of responsibility and patriotism in their comments on national issues and figures.
“Residents, indigenes and indeed everyone in the FCT and in the country is expected to act and talk responsibly, especially on issues concerning national challenges like insecurity”, the MBO national coordinator noted.
Questioning the veracity of some claims, the MBO leader wondered why some FCT residents are tuning themselves into an unofficial opposition political party, saying the FCT and indeed Nigeria will not forget easily how President Muhammadu Buhari’s government has brought respectability, development and inclusiveness back to every part of Nigeria.
It would be recalled that President Buhari has received some FCT residents on Sallah Day, where he assured them that the government will ensure that the FCT is secured.
“I thank you very much. For those of you who suffered very much to support me. And I congratulate you for being happy that I made it and I assure you that I will continue to do my best”, the President assured.
Speaking in the same vein, the Abuja Coordinator of Media Against Impunity Nigeria (MAIN NGR), Comrade Israel Ibeshe, urged the natives, under the auspices of Abuja Original Inhabitants Youth Empowerment Organization (AOIYEO) to shun acts capable of throwing the FCT into an awkward position.
He said their grouse, if any, will be addressed if they are presented peacefully, adding nothing much can be achieved in an atmosphere of rancor and mistrust.
