United States of America based Media Links and Development said the group is set to celebrate seven years of unbroken journalism which focuses on reporting local news from a global perspective.
The media group which emphasizes on developmental strides across the African continent also nominated the Governor of Lagos State in Nigeria’s southwest, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, as Africa’s Most Outstanding State Governor for 2024.
In a statement released in Washington D.C on Sunday, Media Links and Development said the nomination of the Lagos State Governor as Africa’s most outstanding state governor represents the hallmark of several years of compilation and documentation of the growth and development activities of selected governors of major states and municipalities across Africa.
Publisher and Executive Director, Prince Meshack Idehen, said in the statement that the media group has since its founding focused on developmental journalism from the Cape to Cairo, with particular emphasis on large and emerging economies like those of Lagos, Nigeria, Cairo, in Egypt, Johannesburg and Cape town in South Africa, including those encouraging economic hubs like Nairobi, Kenya, Accra, Ghana, Rabat, Morocco and Luanda, Angola.
According to him, “the governance and leadership examples of the Lagos State Governor are such that the African continent and the world cannot ignore. Here’s a state governor who against all economic and situational odds has taken the GDP of the state to a level that bests even those some countries within and beyond the continent.”
Citing the examples of the intermodal transportation options such as the built from the scratch Blue and Red Railway Lines that has since commenced operations and transported over a million passengers within the first few weeks of operations, the Media Links Publisher wondered why it is so difficult for other state governors within the continent to perform at such levels of governance and leadership.
Congratulating the Lagos State Governor for the nomination, Idehen reiterated the mission of the group which is to steadfastly stay consistent to the facts while practicing journalism with a purposeful sense of patriotic commitment to the African that is based on the reality that only Africans can truly tell objective and unbiased stories regarding the African continent.
