Lagos HoS Assures Workers On Palliatives

By Ebenezer Ishola

The Head of Service of Lagos State, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has assured labour leaders and government workers in the State that Government is working assiduously on measures to mitigate the effect of hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidy.

Mr. Muri-Okunola, who gave the assurance on Wednesday at the meeting of the Lagos State Public Service Joint Negotiating Council held at Alausa, Ikeja, said that the State Government was not oblivious of the hardship that the recent economic realities are posing to workers and Lagos in general.

He, therefore, called for patience, understanding and continued cooperation with labour unions, assuring that workers would reap the dividends of current sacrifices within the shortest time possible.

Whilst affirming that the outcome of the meeting would be given deserved consideration, he expressed optimism that the outcome of the meeting would go a long way to strengthening the Administration of Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the Labour Unions in the State.

According to him, the State Government would strive to maintain the resolve to build a Lagos State that is inclusive, prosperous and exemplary reminding the labour leaders that their role was pivotal in this endeavour and they must continue to deploy dialogue as an effective weapon to actualise their demands.
