The newly elected SUG Executive members were presented to the University Management by the Dean of Students, Prof. Efosa Oseghale for inauguration at a colourful ceremony held on Wednesday 10th August, 2022 at the VC’s Conference Room.

While presenting his address, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Asomwan Sonnie Adagbonyin, thanked God for the successful conduct of the elections. He informed the newly elected SUG Executives that inauguration is an affirmation that leadership has taken off and also a sign of a successful coordination of an effective transition from the old to the new.

He again reaffirmed the hand of God in the electioneering process at a time the University was pulling out of a major crisis and the election held in-between the second semester examinations for 2020/2021 academic session. The AVC informed the new Exco that leadership is not a joke but rather the ability to surmount challenges. He advised them to develop leadership capacity to be able to lead the over 35000 students of AAUE. According to him, leadership demands focus, dynamism, critical analysis and rationalism. He admonished them to always balance advice and reality if they must succeed.

He urged the new Exco to always ask questions before reacting and if the need for reactions arises, due process must be followed.

The most important aspect of the ceremony, was the oath taking by the newly elected SUG Exco which was moderated by the Acting Registrar, Mr. Ambrose E. Odiase.
