Executive Director of Media Against Impunity Nigeria, Prince Meshack Idehen, said the statement credited to group, the Muslims Rights Concern (MURIC), regarding the endorsement of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for a second term lacks merit.
The Media Activist said it was important to caution MURIC over statements they make that have the capacity to take away peace form the state.
Idehen said it was on public records, the spoiler roles that MURIC has become infamous for, pointing out the well documented comments MURIC has made over states and national issues now and in the past shows the mindset of a group, whose rumbustious life president is bent on writing the name of MURIC on the negative sides of history.
“Media Against Impunity Nigeria advices MURIC to cease from the endless attempts to use religion and religious groups to destabilize the age long peaceful coexistence in Lagos State, and indeed Nigeria,”, Idehen said.
He said from time Immemorial that Lagos has remained the most cosmopolitan, urbane and ethno-religiously tolerant state in the whole federation, saying MURIC condemning the approval of second term for Governor Babajide Sanwoolu, by the leadership of the APC in Lagos, is insensitive, unnecessarily divisive, and completely against the sterling provisions of the 1999 constitution as amended on the issue of 2nd term for elected state governors.
