The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council NADDC), Jelani Aliyu,(MFR) said, the NADDC is building centers that will transform Nigerian youths into masters of all the new advanced technologies and systems that are now integrated in new age vehicles.
He said what the council is building in Zamfara and across the nation are exciting centres of technical empowerment with the mechanical systems themselves, embedded ICT systems and Electric Vehicle powertrains.
Speaking while inspecting ongoing work on the Council’s Automotive Training Centre in Gusau, Zamfara state, the NADDC director general said the project is one of the seven Automotive Training Centres the NADDC has started developing in 2019 across the country: one in each of the six geopolitical zones and the seventh in the FCT:
At the inspection were the Deputy Governor of Zamfara State, Barr. Mahadi Mohammed Aliyu Gusau and Senator Iyiola Omisore, Member of NADDC Governing Board.
The other centers apart from Gusau are, Abakaliki in Ebonyi, State, Osogbo in Osun State, Bauchi in Bauchi, Lokoja in Kogi, State, Benin City in Edo, State and Abuja in the Federal Capital Territory.
“These projects are in the Council’s efforts to empower Nigerian youth with advanced Automotive and Mechatronics technical skills that would ensure productivity and reliance”, Jelani Aliyu said.
According to him, the centres will be equipped with high precision modern training modules and tools, and will also be staffed with professional instructors.
“The centers are at advanced stages of construction and are planned to be completed, commissioned and in operation by third quarter 2020. Each centre will be run in collaboration with sectoral experts to empower youth within their zones”, the director general added.
