First is the recognition of his enormous contributions to the development of Plateau State that birthed his nomination for the Plateau Man of the Year 2019.
Well before President Muhammdu Buhari appointed him as the Director General/Chief Executive of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), Sir Joe Ari, a Knight of St Mulumba has always ensured a consistent slate of innovations covering a broad range of selfless efforts across boundaries.
His efforts have resulted in increased developments and unprecedented opportunities for countless around the country and beyond.
In addition to producing sustainable opportunities, Sir Joe Ari (KSM) epitomizes leadership at its finest; his proactive approach and reliability as a dream team-coach/captain/player is a perfect reflection of what leadership with heart is.
The recognition of these attributes has elevated him to become a champion of the people and the society. He exemplifies leadership; never saying no, always volunteering, sharing his expertise for the benefit of others and creating opportunities for thousands, if not millions people, the world over.
Born in December of the year of Nigeria’s independence, Sir Joe Ari (KSM) is a holder of the West African School Certificate, a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism, Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Post Graduate Diploma in Management.
He also holds a degree in Law (LL B (Hons.), a Masters Degree in Law LLM, and Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA). His working career spans a period of over two decades, covering different spheres of disciplines and human endeavour.
Sir Joe Ari (KSM) started broadcasting from the scratch at the Plateau Broadcasting Corporation as a news reporter/presenter; had a stint with the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria Lagos as a newscaster and subsequently moved over to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) as a news editor/caster. His working career took him to the National Insurance Corporation of Nigeria, (NICON) where he was the Public Relations Manager, North.
He was also the Director of Press and Public Affairs to two Governors of Plateau State before his appointment as the Sole Administrator and later General Manager of the Plateau Publishing Company, (PPC) Jos. Thereafter, he was reassigned to the Plateau Radio Television Corporation, (PRTVC), as General Manager.
To date, he remains the first Plateau citizen to have headed the two state media outfits at different times.
Sir Joe Ari (KSM) completed the cycle of his public service at the state level when he was appointed Permanent Secretary in charge of Government House Administration; a position he held until his appointment by the Federal Government as a Director in the Department of Public Relations, External Affairs and Publicity of the Industrial Training Fund, ITF, a grade ‘A’ Federal Government Parastatal under the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.
Sir Ari was the Director of Administration and Human Resource Department, Corporate Planning Department and the Director Business Training Development Department at the ITF Headquarters.
He is a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, member of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON, a Fellow of the Corporate Administration Institute and a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, where he recently concluded two terms as a member of the Institute’s Governing Council.
He has attended various management and professional courses both within and outside the country, and has bagged many awards of professional excellence from different Agencies, bodies and organisations.
A devout Christian, Sir Ari, is a Knight of the Catholic Church of the Order of St. Mulumba (KSM), where he has held positions as Chancellor and Grand Knight of the Order.
His works of charity are numerous; and together with his wife, Lady Victoria Ari and five boys as children, has quietly, with little publicity and great humility, continued to positively affect the lives of hundreds of thousands around the country and beyond.
As a leader, Sir Ari brings both knowledge and insight to every initiative, and has established connections and outreaches to several individuals, educational institutions and groups resulting in the formation of opportunities too numerous to mention. His dedication, professionalism, boundless energy, and enthusiasm make him an asset to every organization he is associated with.
He has continued to support the generality of mankind by training others to continue in his footsteps, while at the same time devoting much time and effort towards producing quality citizens. His extensive involvement has included participation in everything that makes development wholistic.
For his commitment to the overall development of Plateau and enhancing the social fabric of success in the state and by extension the country, the Plateau Man of the Year for 2019 is a great place to start for a man that is surely destined for the top.
His instrumental role in re-establishing trust, responsibility and accountability and his leadership in driving the growth of the organization placed under his watch by the Federal Government is one that cannot be ignored.
A driving force behind countless individuals, and one whose enthusiasm, determination, and outreach have contributed in no small measure to the visible success being seen.
Sir Joe Ari’s passion for achieving core mission and goals is ever-present, as he always works to increase the visibility and impact of all that under his watch both at local, state, regional and global levels.
2019 Plateau Man of the Year Awards is open to individuals whose actions have greatly impacted the State positively in the year under review and helped shape their immediate society and continues to inspire nationally.
He is always easy to forgive and ever willing to open a fresh page for another moment of experience due to his large heartedness and sincerity of purpose, a virtue which has boosted morale towards achieving the renewed vision for the organization he heads.
It is on record since taking over as the Director general/Chief Executive of ITF, that he has unveiled realisable strategies, including the Year of Deliverables and Strategies For Mandate Actualisation, which are anchored on delivering on mass skills acquisition programmes, as well as broadening platforms of opportunities for both the ITF and advancing human development; core mandates of the Fund.
The renewed vision of the ITF is hinged on ensuring that the skills of Nigerians are fully developed, and that the non-oil sector is developed to make Nigerians less dependent on oil in line with President Muhammadu Buhari’s vision for improved development of the country.
“We are pursuing various programmes that will deliver skills to thousands of Nigerians and opening up various centres in the country for many Nigerians to be equipped with technical knowledge in various sectors.” the director general said recently.
He has taken collaboration and internal cohesion that can attain corporate goals of the ITF to greater heights, including partnership with countries like Singapore and Brazil, among others; all in the quest to fully develop the skills of Nigerians in various fields of human endeavours.
“Nigerians are endowed with vast human capacity and potentials. Our vision is to fully develop those potentials and unleash on the national economy for development. Our ability to develop Nigeria lies in our ability to develop ourselves and quip our population with requisite technical skills. Nigeria is set to experience a new dawn in skill acquisition for real time development.”
Sir Joe Ari (KSM) has been nominated for the Plateau Man of The Year for 2019, and it is my belief,hope and prayers that he will emerges as the winner.
