Stakeholders and analysts in the Nigerian polity said President Muhammadu Buhari should as a matter of absolute equity, fairness and justice, compensate the Muhammadu Buhari Osinbanjo Dynamic Support Group with ministerial positions and other appointments in the loading cabinet.
This appeal to President Buhari is coming as the scramble to occupy ministerial and other positions in the yet to be formed cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo continues ahead of inauguration on May 29th.
It would be recalled that several reports has emanated over the last few days speculating that all of the current cabinet members and aides will be retained by the president when he assumes office for a second term.
However, speaking exclusively to meshackdaily.com, Dr Mike Uyi, the President General of Global Peace Movement International (UK), said it would be recalled that President Buhari recently lauded the MBO Group for its sacrifices to stabilize Nigeria
He said based on what has been done by the MBO Group in the last four years to support and stabilize the administration of President Buhari cannot be quantified in words or appointments, saying the comments on MBO by the president for making sacrifices to stabilize the nation’s socio-political environment for the general good of the society is very well documented.
Dr Uyi noted that the show of support and self-sacrifice by MBO was not only a morale booster but a clear demonstration that his administration was on the right course in the task of salvaging the country for sustainable growth and development, including wining the last general elections by convincing margins all over the country.
“I’m honestly impressed and grateful to this group of more than 2.5 million Nigerians that have dedicated themselves for so long to serve this country under the auspice of this organization, the MBO Dynamic Support Group. I’m very impressed with the composition and your presentation today”, President Buhari had told MBO when the group visited the president at the State House recently.
“I think I have lost enough words to express my sincere appreciation to you for the sacrifices you have been making in what you believe that would be stabilizing Nigeria. I thank you very much,’’ President Buhari told the MBO National Leader, Hon Usman Ibrahim.
Speaking in the same vein, a leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Monday Yohana, said it is obvious that the decision and choice of ministers and aides remains with the president, but that certain areas must be covered.
Yohana, a core Buharist, said many party stakeholders and faithfuls are favorably disposed to the nomination and confirmation of MBOs National Leader, Hon Usman Ibrahim as a Minister, pointing out that the Operation Win 40 40 initiated and completed by the group helping the president win reelection was worth bringing into consideration.
He said the APC as a party having established itself as a party of progressives, and having been built on the sweat, consistency and perseverance of loyal party men and women, must ensure that consistent members who have kept the party afloat are appreciated and given higher responsibilities which include the privilege to serve the nation.
Meshackdaily.com recalls that the MBO Dynamic Support Group was established in 2014, as category `A’ affiliated group with the APC, and that the group developed a strategy in 2014 code named “Operation Win 40’’ which was tested during 2015 general elections.
The `Operation Win 40’ had now been modified into 7-level administrative structure, which targeted and won more than 3.7million votes for Buhari in the 2019 presidential election.
Members of the group had used their resources to campaign for him in 2014 but were not rewarded, but the assurance by President Buhari that they will not be forgotten this time around, has remained a motivating factor for the sustenance of the good works in support of the administration.
“l am very grateful for your support. In 2014, many of you worked for me without expecting anything, but this time around, l want to assure you that you will be rewarded when we return,” President Buhari said.
On his part, the MBO’s National Coordinator, Hon Usman Ibrahim, who described the group as an idealistic, practical and hands on, noted that it had developed a political strategy which was instrumental to the APC political strategy in all elections.
“MBO has a total of 2, 725,359 foot soldiers across the country with a mandate to win 40 votes per polling unit, each. These foot Soldiers were mandated to win 40 votes per polling units in 2019 and they all delivered”.
However, Ibrahim said it was important to note that despite the sacrifice made by our members in 2015, and our efforts, MBO has not been given its due recognition by the government and party”.
