Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwo- Olu has again, reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to the welfare of families of late Officers of the Armed Forces, assuring that the labours of the heroes past will not be in vain.
Sanwo-Olu Olu gave the assurance on Sunday during the Year 2022 Armed Forces
Remembrance Day celebration and interdenominational divine service, held at Chapel of Christ the Light, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos State, with the theme: “I willheal their land”.
The event which was organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Home Affairs had in attendance top government officials, top executives of the Christian bodies, including the leadership of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), top officers of the Armed Forces, Nigerian Army, Nigerian Navy, Nigerian Air Force, and the Police were also well represented.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Prince Anofiu Elegushi, said: “This gathering is to celebrate and remember our fallen heroes, both those that are no more and those that have any form of disability. Part of our celebrations is to give thanks to God for the nation, state, and for the Armed Forces. We are doing this to pray to God to heal our land and we believe; he will do so.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu has increased the financial support given to members of the Armed Forces from N5 million to N50 million. We are also supporting them through training and empowerment. We will continue to give the officers and their relatives that sense of belonging they deserve” he said .
