Automotive Competition Will Empower Young Nigerians, Create Job Opportunities- DG NADDC

Talented youths across the six Geo-Political Zones of Nigeria will have the opportunity to showcase their talents and skills in the upcoming National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), National Automotive Challenge.

This development is coming, even as the NADDC said it was set to make Nigeria the automotive hub on the African continent.

The Director General of NADDC, Mr. Jelani Aliyu (MFR), told www.meshackdaily.com, in a statement that the opportunity to impart skills on Nigerian youths will be spread across all the six geo-political zones in the country.

Amongst other great objectives, the NADDC director general said the initiative will engage talented youths across the country, and allow them showcase their creativity in the design of concepts for an intercity mini taxi and cost effective mini tractors.

According to the director general, “the competition will present the opportunity to promote automotive design capabilities in Nigeria, and promote innovative solutions applicable to the nation in mechanized agriculture and public transportation”.

Aliyu said the winning designer/innovator will be attached to the NADDC as part of the councils engineering and development team, while one winner will emerge in each of the two categories from each geo –political zones.

It would be recalled that the NADDC has finalized plans that will see global vehicles manufacturers making the production of their vehicles in Nigeria, while local production of all Nigerian made vehicles is at an all-time high, through the innovate leadership currently at the council.

“The council has also concluded arrangements that will see Nigerians paying as little as 10 percent for a brand new vehicle through its auto finance scheme, while the quest to eliminate carbon emission remains fully on course”, the DG said.

At the Automotive Challenge starting on Monday, 21st October, 2019, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investments, is expected tp present the keynote address.
