A Social Political Pressure Group, the Nigerian Mass Movement for Muhammadu Buhari said it has endorsing the Governorship bid of Engineer Danlanmi Umar Mohammed to become the next governor of Kogi State.
The group said the entrance of Engineer D.U Mohammed into the Kogi governorship race for the second time was as a result of the appeal and pressure from well-meaning stakeholders in Kogi state and beyond who has seen him as the best of all the options available for Kogi as the election approaches.
In a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday, the National Coordinator of the Group, Hon Amodu Emmanuel, and National Secretary, Mr. Luke Ignatius, said Engineer Mohammed is an elder statesman and a political colossus who has been the major supporter of developmental initiatives in Kogi state and around the country.
The group said the people of Kogi state has already taken a decision on what to do and whom to vote for if the incumbent governor is given the ticket by the party, because Kogi state was almost on the verge of collapse owing to what they described as the insensitive, incompetent governance of Yahaya Bello, the current governor of the state.
According to him, “Engineer Danlanmi Umar Mohammed has been carefully chosen as the people’s choice for the election if our great party must emerge victorious at the coming polls”.
They further appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari who is the Grand Patron of the Nigerian Mass Movement to support their choice for the Kogi governorship position in the overall interest of the state, pointing out that Engineer Danlanmi Umar Mohammed stands head and shoulder above the rest when it comes to competence for the position, commitment to the party; the APC and loyalty to President Buhari and the administration.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. Engineers Danlanmi Umar Mohamed has demonstrated unmatched level of political will, commitment and competence to the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC. We therefore endorse him before you and for your support in the interests of the state and its overall development”, the group added.
The Nigeria Mass Movement for Muhammadu Buhari, the group explained, was created to work for a truly egalitarian Nigerian society where every Nigerian irrespective of status, religious, ethnic, cultural and political affiliations are not denied their rights to the dividends of good governance.
